A shape is created in one piece which only when finished and cunningly folded looks anything like a jacket! At the workshop you will be knitting a version that is even smaller than the baby version, but with thicker wool and larger needles, to make the most of limited time. The finished jacket will be suitable for a teddy or doll, but the principles are the same, whatever the size. You will learn how to adapt the design for different sizes - up to adult size. Tricia has been knitting these small jackets in Shetland 2-ply, but any aran weight yarn with 5mm (or thereabouts) needles will do. Different colour stripes are quite effective, so this could be good for using up several half balls of wool. There will be yarn available to buy on the day from the shop or Tricia herself. For many this may be the first experience of circular needles. By the end of the day I hope you will feel that circular needles could become an essential part of your knitting! You will discuss different ways of holding the wool. You may currently use either your right hand (English method) or left hand (German method) to hold the wool, but at this workshop you will begin to use the one you don't normally use and soon be able to use both to knit in two colours, which is easier than standard English instructions may lead you to believe!
